died of a heart attack
Pete was known to everyone as woody. he was a dear friend to me and many others. he was kind and would help anyone in need and as on many occasions helped me. I stayed with him for a while and he helped me no end. he was down to earth and easy to talk too. one of the lads and always up for a laugh. we got up to all sorts.
he came to swanley around 1970/71 but I only got to know him around 1995. I had known him before as he was friends with my brother but I only got to know him really well when I started doing cabbing. although Pete was a qualified welder/engineer his heart was always in cabbing. he owned a few cab firms before I knew him but I met him when he worked for someone else’s firm in Sidcup.
Pete always tried to better himself and it wasn’t long before he owned another firm in new eltham. I went with him there but in time it all went wrong. he had personal problems at home and got rid of the firm.
Pete had many many friends in his life I was just one of them but another friend of ours was a man called Paul or slippery as we called him. we become known as the terrible three and we become really close.
around 2003 pete started up a executive car hire firm called crest. it was all he ever wanted to do and now he had it. he put his heart and soul into it. he had two partners but towards the end of his life the relationship between the three of them started to strain and pete was pushed out. he kept the name and kept working on his own but the pressure was getting to him.
what will stay in my memory the most was the millenium party we had at my house. you had a great night and made the party come alive. my sister veronica still remembers you grabbing her behind the seatee or was it her grabbing you lol. and me walking into the toilet only to find you streached out on the floor asleep. you woke up and carried on though and you had a great time. your life wasnt great then but you had a great time that night.
when pete died on christmas eve 2005 i hadnt spoke to him for over a year. i miss him as do a lot of people. i miss the chats we had. he was always there to listen and now he was gone. pete i hope your in heaven driving the great lord around.

mising you pete and your cheekyness, you was a great mate to my ex danny. you supported him through our hard times. you had a lot of worrys to carry, more so when you brought your home. that was the begining of the end for you pete. you couldn`t handle the stress and it all got you on that horrible day of xmas eve when you past away through a heart attack.
sadly missed.
sleep tight pete and no your in nomore pain and all your worrys have now gone......
